The Maharashtra State Agricultural Marketing Board (MSAMB) in Pune was established on March 23, 1984, as per the provisions of Clause No. 39(A) of Maharashtra Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation) Act of 1963. MSAMB is a state level organization which has completed 18 years of dedicated service to the farming community. Since its inception, MSAMB has achieved success in various fields and also proved to be integral to the development of up–to–date and well coordinated agricultural marketing system in the state of Maharashtra.
MSAMB is successfully working on domestic marketing and export of fresh fruits like mango, grapes, pomegranates, banana, mandarins, sweet lime, etc. MSAMB is the nodal agency for implementing the Agriculture Export Zones (AEZ) of Alphonso mango, Kesar mango, onion and pomegranate in Maharashtra. By exporting various fruits, MSAMB is in the process of achieving its objective of ensuring price stability and reliable returns to the growers.
Mission and Objectives of MSAMB:
- To develop infrastructure for efficient pre– and post–harvest management.
- To provide the training to growers.
- To provide linkages between growers/processors to importers.
- To promote processing industry for value addition.
- Implementation of quality standards like EUREPGAP, HACCP, etc.
- Traceability of agricultural produce.
- To disseminate information on market intelligence (approximate quality available, quality standards, projected market rates).
- To participate and organize seminars, workshops, and domestic and international exhibitions.
